The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi Debate Society has secured a place in the finals of the Inter-Tertiary Human Rights Debate Competition, organized by Amnesty International Ghana.
The team’s exceptional performance has drawn praise from the Director of Student Affairs, Professor Marian Asantewah Nkansah.
In a congratulatory meeting with the debaters, Professor Nkansah commended the team for their eloquence, critical thinking, and unwavering commitment to human rights advocacy.
“Your excellent performance in the debate has brought honour to the university,” she said. “I wish to congratulate you on how far you have come and wish you the very best in the finals.”

The KNUST team; comprising Nana Agyei Gyebi, Florence Offei, and Andy Elorm, clinched their spot in the finals after a hard-fought victory over the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), with a final score of 60.76 to 54.09.
They will face off against the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in the championship round, scheduled for September 2025.
